Gospel Friendship Groups are an essential aspect of Spiritual Formation at Advent. If you are already in a GFG, please come ready to share of your group’s experience and have it enriched by teaching. If you are interested in joining a GFG, come find out more about Gospel Friendships and how to get involved.
Please RSVP to Stacey (with any food allergies) by Feb 10th.
Join us for a night of relaxation and connection! Bring your favorite beverage or treat, as well as any crafts, games, or activities you enjoy during a night in.
We’ll gather at Danielle Williams’s home.
If you would enjoy making prayer beads, Cindy will be available to guide you.
Our Diocesan synod is coming up soon in Colorado Springs. This is a time of connecting with fellow Anglican churches and of being encouraged and equipped through worship and proclamation. To learn more and register go to: drm.churchcenter.com/registrations/events. We would love to have you join us!
Prayer is not a one-sided conversation; God invites us into the other half of the conversation. Join us to praise God, be still, and listen to see what the Lord has for us to give the world.
During this time we will specifically focus on Rob’s health—both hearing from him and praying for his healing.
This service is patterned after worship in the ecumenical community of Taizé. Their sung and silent participatory prayer services are designed for contemplation through song, Scripture, and silence. The different tempo of the Taizé service encourages us to break away from the hurried sense of our lives and breathe in the presence of Christ and community.
Here’s your chance to get to know people that you've seen at church but haven’t been able to connect with yet! Various dinners will be held simultaneously in different homes throughout the city.
Sign up by Nov 25th to attend or host. Dinner locations will be communicated the week of.
Come explore the rich resources of our Anglican tradition. We’ll look at the history and theology which undergird our liturgy, organization, and mission. Those who attend will have the option to be Confirmed on Jan 27th.
Class starts on November 29th, and we will have four additional classes in December and January (dates TBD).
The topic of this year’s Men’s Retreat will be “Disappointment & Discovery: Meeting Jesus on the Road to Emmaus.” We all face frustrations and disappointments in life. Yet, Jesus meets us on the road of our disaffection, teaches us about himself, and invites us to sit at table with Him. Join us for a weekend of honest conversations as we explore our disappointments and discover more about Jesus together. Come also for fellowship, great food, fun games (read: paintball), and glorious views of the mountains at Undertree Lodge in Jefferson, CO.
Please join us as we discuss business, finances, and our vision for the coming year. We will also be electing a new Vestry member. To nominate someone, contact Rob by the end of September.
Childcare will be provided.
Please bring a side to share at our potluck prior to the meeting!
Our next neighborhood Block Party is around the corner! Please consider coming and connecting with our neighbors. We'll have food and games for the whole family--including a bouncy house, face-painting, giant jenga, and a snow cone machine!
We’ll need lots of help to pull this off:
- Passing out invites in the neighborhood (Aug 19th after the service)
- Purchasing school supplies and backpacks to give to the neighborhood kids (sign up in the church foyer)
- Bringing food items (sign up here)
- Running the fun events we will have
Please let Stacey (email@example.com) know if you are able to help!
Bring a book you’ve enjoyed (either used or new) and leave with someone else’s highly-recommended book. We’ll enjoy connecting and sharing favorite books on the back patio of Bookbar (4280 Tennyson St.).
Treats will be catered in, but please plan to purchase a beverage.
Come connect with the other parents at Advent, hear about what’s going on with our kids’ ministry, and have a chance to provide input regarding the future of our programs!
Coffee and bagels will be provided, and there will be childcare for the discussion portion of the meeting.
On August 12th, we will have two services:
(1) Camp Church - a full Eucharistic service as part of our Church Retreat. All Adventers are welcome, even if you did not attend the Retreat. We will be at the outdoor chapel at Jellystone of Estes (5495 US 36, Estes Park, CO 80517). A $5 guest pass to the campground may be required.
(2) Morning Prayer - a shorter, simpler service at Church of the Advent for those who are not able to join us in Estes.
This year we will be camping at Jellystone of Estes. You can look forward to a weekend of enjoying the outdoors (campfires, games, hiking, outdoor pool at the campground, exploring Estes, etc.) and connecting with people!
We will have our Sunday morning service at 10am at the campground amphitheater. You are welcome to join us, even if you do not go on the Retreat. A $5/person guess pass to the campground may be required. For those who cannot join us, there will be a Morning Prayer service at the Church at 10am.
Get ready for the upcoming quarterly Men’s Gathering at Dan Myers's home! We’ll have an informal time of hanging out and catching up, followed by a time of council—intentional listening and sharing with one another.
Bring a beverage to share of your choosing.
Contact Josh Williams (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Dan Myers (email@example.com) with any questions.
Pack a lunch or pick up something on the way, and join us for picnics at Paco Sanchez Park after the service on the first Sundays of each month this summer!
