During the summer at Advent, as our Small Groups break for the season, we create the opportunity to step into formation in new and dynamic ways through our Summer Studies.
Embodied: Understanding Sexuality from a Christian Perspective
What: This six-week class will take a closer look at the framework that our culture has adopted for answering questions about sexuality and explore ways that this is at odds with a Christian view of the body. We'll discuss issues surrounding sexual identity, singleness, marriage, transgenderism, homosexuality, and personhood. The class is designed for those who want to develop an integrated, compassionate understanding of what it means to be embodied as God's image-bearers living in a broken world. Participants are asked to get a copy of Nancy Pearcey's book, Love Thy Body: Answering Hard Questions about Life and Sexuality, and read chapter one in preparation for our first meeting.
When: Mondays 7-8:30pm // June 18-July 23
Where: Jess and Sara Bartley's house
What: This five-week Summer Study will take a look at the many layers of the Enneagram, including the triads, types, wings, and arrows. The focus of this study will be to better understand and live into the ways God has gifted you and to learn to live with greater grace in regards to the areas which tend to produce shame and frustration. The hope is that you not only develop personally, but also gain greater understanding into your relationships and how to love those around you well.
When: Tuesdays 7-8:30pm // June 19, 26, July 10, 17, & 31
Where: Church of the Advent
RSVP & Questions: Stacey Brogan (firstname.lastname@example.org)
