During the summer at Advent, as our Small Groups break for the season, we create the opportunity to step into formation in new and dynamic ways through our Summer Studies.
What: Parenting is hard. In our fast-moving culture and lives, it can be difficult to step away from quick-fixes and be intentional and thoughtful in our roles of raising kids. This four-week discussion series will meet every-other-week to create a space to touch-on and begin exploring a variety of topics related to the raising/shepherding/training (insert word of choice) of our children. Possible topics: parenting in and with grace; it takes a village (the community in parenting), and some current hot-issues (technology and media, education choices, etc.).
When: Mondays 6-8pm (discussion from 6:30-7:30pm) // June 17, July 8 & 22
Where: Brenda and Jeff Wright's house
RSVP & Questions: Brenda and Jeff (firstname.lastname@example.org)
What: This five-week study will take a look at the Enneagram—a personality system which helps us gain understanding of and language around our core gifts, motivations, values, fears, and areas of weakness. The focus of this study will be to better live into the ways God has gifted us and to learn to live with greater grace in regards to the areas which tend to produce shame and frustration. The hope is that you not only develop personally, but also gain greater understanding into your relationships and how to love those around you well.
The first meeting will be an introduction to the Enneagram and an essential foundation for the rest of the study. If you hope to attend the study, but will miss the first meeting, let me know asap. If you attended last summer’s Enneagram study, this first meeting will be review for you, but the subsequent meetings will have new content.
When: Wednesdays 7-8:30pm // June 12 & 26, July 10 & 31, August 14
Where: Church of the Advent OR Jess and Sara Bartley's house (TBD depending on attendance)
RSVP & Questions: Stacey Brogan (email@example.com)
If you are in need of childcare for either of these Summer Studies, please contact the leader(s) by June 3rd to see if it is possible for this to be arranged.
