We are an Anglican Church in the Villa Park neighborhood in south-west Denver.  We seek to share in the life of God together by re-defining and re-orienting everything around the gospel of Jesus Christ. We follow a liturgical form of worship and welcome friends, neighbors, and strangers alike.

Small Groups

Small Groups

At Church of the Advent, the ongoing work of growing in relationship with God, each other, and the world happens in Small Groups.  Small Groups are simply an "extended family learning to live out the gospel together."

North - Westminster Group (Tuesdays, 6:30-8:30pm)

Led by: Matt Grajcar & Nick Roseveare

Hosted by: Matt & Brianna Grajcar

Our small group is a spiritual family that seeks to encourage each other in our relationship with Christ, with the hope of seeing the sacred work of God in the everyday moments and routines of life. Each week, we share a meal together before discussing faith-based books and the Bible. This semester we will be reading through Liturgy of the Ordinary: Sacred Practices in Everyday Life with the goal of reforming not only our minds, but also our perspectives, hearts, and habits. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Matt ( or Brianna (

North - Central Denver Group (Wednesdays, 7-8:30pm)

Led by: Ryan Flanders, John & Sara Knippa

Hosted by: John & Sara Knippa

This group has a vision for creating an authentic community where we pause mid-week to spend time in God’s word and explore how it impacts our hearts and lives.   We value creating a space where we all come as we are, friendships grow, and conversations are real.  This year we will explore scripture, prayer, and contemplative disciplines. This group will combine the City Park and Cheesman Park groups from last year. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Ryan (, John ( or Sara (

East Group (every other Sunday, 5-7:30pm)

Led by: Jess & Sara Bartley, Josh & Danielle Williams

Hosted by: Jess and Sara Bartley

The focus of the Central-East group is spiritual growth through fellowship.  This fall we will meet twice each month for dinner, Bible discussion, and prayer at the Bartleys' house in Congress Park.  Members will take turns bringing dinner for the whole group (once per semester).  Our discussions will be based on the church's readings and sermons in Luke's gospel.  Childcare for this group is off-site; please contact Danielle ( for more info. For more information or to RSVP, please contact Sara (

West - Zuni Casa Group (three Sundays a month, 4:30-6:30pm)

Led by: Jason Rhine, Cindy & Brad Hamilton

Hosted by: Dan & Jen Myers

Our group is studying Tim Keller’s Prayer: Experiencing Awe and Intimacy with God. Our group also includes intentional elements where we dive into each other's stories, practice various disciplines together, and ultimately seek to create a safe space where we can share and grow in Christ. We meet at Dan and Jen's two times a month to connect and discuss whatever we happen to be studying. We also take one Sunday a month to gather for a family dinner (potluck). We take turns hosting family dinner or go to a restaurant after church for lunch. For more information please contact Cindy (

NEW West - Lakewood Group (every other Sunday, 12:15-2pm)

Led by: Claire and Andrew Graber

Hosted by: Mark and Angie Wachendorf

The Lakewood group is a new group at Advent, where we hope to foster Christian community and friendship. Denver can be a lonely place to live at times, so we want to provide a warm and welcoming environment for anyone who would like to come. We will also be reading and discussing Generous Justice, by Timothy Keller. This book presents a Biblical vision of justice in the light of grace and Christ's death and resurrection. We will meet biweekly on Sundays for a potluck lunch and book discussion. Please contact Andrew Graber at for questions or to RSVP.

Other Opportunities to Gather & Grow:

Hosted by: Church of the Advent

Each meeting will begin with a time of coffee and fellowship, followed by studying the book Becoming a Woman of Freedom by Cynthia Heald. For more information, or to RSVP, please contact Cindy ( If you are in need of childcare, please contact Jen Myers (
