We are an Anglican Church in the Villa Park neighborhood in south-west Denver.  We seek to share in the life of God together by re-defining and re-orienting everything around the gospel of Jesus Christ. We follow a liturgical form of worship and welcome friends, neighbors, and strangers alike.

Colosians Mid-Week Devotional

Fulfilled in Christ

Jake Gosselin

Opening Prayer:

Lord of all power and might, the author and giver of all good things: Graft in our hearts the love of your Name; increase in us true religion; nourish us with all goodness; and bring forth in us the fruit of good works; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.  Amen.

Scripture Reading: Col. 2:9-10
9 For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, 10 and you have come to fullness in him, who is the head of every ruler and authority.

Devotion:
On Sunday, Rob preached about fulfillment, which seems to be on everyone's mind in America.  From self-help books to life coaches to Oprah, we are constantly seeking insight into how to achieve this elusive goal.  The book of Colossians, however, gives us an amazing promise: we "have come to fullness in him [Christ]."  What everyone searches for, we have been given in Jesus: HE is the fulfillment of all that it means to be human.  He is the source of all insight into what it looks like to become fully human, and since we have become rooted in him, we can have complete assurance that we will grow into the fullness of Christ.  All that we hope for, and which scripture confirms, regarding what it means to be human, is ours in Christ.

Take a few moments for self-examination and prayer:

1.

Take some time to imagine yourself completely fulfilled in Christ.

What would you no longer struggle with?  What kind of virtues and skills would you possess?

2.

Do you believe this is your destiny in Christ?

How might this hope (or lack thereof) affect your life today?
