Church of the Advent is associated with the Western Network of PEARUSA, a missionary movement of the Rwandan(!) Episcopal (Anglican) Church. PEARUSA is a “growing movement of healthy, reproducing Anglican churches that are birthed in Rwanda, planted in North America, and bearing fruit in our communities for the glory of God.” Because of our participation in this larger body, we have - on occasion - Rwandan bishops and clergy who visit and worship with us at Church of the Advent.
We also enjoy full communion with ACNA (The Anglican Church of North America), a church that unites some 100,000 Anglicans in nearly 1,000 congregations across the United States and Canada. It is an emerging Province in the global Anglican Communion. A more detailed explanation of these commitments, which shape our church’s life and identity, can be found here.
One of the gifts of being part of an extended family of churches is that we have a leader who oversees our local body. Bishop Ken Ross, based in Colorado Springs, talks regularly with the pastoral staff and makes yearly trips to visit Church of the Advent. He is a "pastor to the pastors," as well as a passionate preacher of the gospel. We are thankful for the ways he serves us!
